Fatal Fables Episode 2: You Won't See Me Cry (2016)
This was actually the first episode I wrote, but was the last project filmed as M.D.P. in 2014. The working title was Breaking Up Is Hard, but I decided to change it the day before I uploaded it to YouTube after a Muse whispered a better suggestion in my ear.
Not really my area of expertise to write a Romantic Comedy, but this was my effort of a Rom-Com with a twist!
After spending one of my Master's Modules on a Director's role in post-production & learning how to use Adobe Premiere Pro, I decided to finally edit this short film in June 2016.
It was my first go at colour correction/grading & there were a lot of amateur errors to try to compensate for.
All in all, I'm quite happy with the final result. Especially since my lead actor, Alex Reed agreed to step in with only 12 hours notice, after I was let down by the original actor (these things happen when you have no budget to pay people).
I have included links to both the rough cut & the final version for comparison, so you can see what I was up against.
I only applied a colour correction layer to scenes rather than individual shots, because after 2 years, I just wanted to get it checked off the back log list.
At the time of uploading, it was still my best editing work to date.
Synopsis
Many of us know what it's like to be victim to broken promises & difficult relationship break-ups. Sarah & Pete are still in the early stages of love, but his friend Stu thinks it's bound to end in tears.
